This last month has seen members out and about at a number of events.

Unfortunately Barton Bike night was somewhat spoilt by a very wet evening, well done to those that braved the weather and thanks to John for his efforts in organizing the vintage area.

The meet with the VSCC at Scaftworth saw a good turnout, helped by excellent weather for an evenings ride; I trust that all participants have now found their way home.

On a national stage, attendance at the Festival of 1000 Bikes and Founders day was healthy, with members machines being exercised vigorously and a fair amount of success on the auto jumble field being reported

To conclude last months notes; Messrs. Mundey and Lawrence completed their Lands End to John O’Groats trip in fine style. While Mr. Balmforths party are still in the planning stage, but hope to be raising funds for local charities when they go.
    August

The Mid-Lincs Best Kept Bike Night had an excellent turn out, helped by good weather.  A wide variety of machines were displayed, the best Pre-war bike was judged as Mr. J Connellys BSA H2.  The competition was such that a tie was reached on the Post-War bikes with Mr. J Mundeys Velocette MSS and Mr. J Hebbs Norton Atlas being equally popular.

It would appear that wanderlust has overtaken the section, Messrs. Mundey and Lawrence are currently undertaking a Lands End to John O’Groats trip, with Mr. Balmforths party due to attempt this challenge later in the year, best of luck to all of them.

Plenty of riding for the less adventurous
    July

Mid-Lincs have been active in May with a busy Relay Rally checkpoint, thanks to Charlie and Phyllis for their sterling work.

Followed by a change of event. We ran the Barry Blythe memorial run to commemorate one of our late members, this proved to be a real winner, with visitors, old friends and current members enjoying a run out over the Lincolnshire Wolds to Cadwell Park, a parade around the track and a ride back to the Stables Farm shop. Particular thanks to John Mundey and Stewart Parker for their swift and competent organization.

    June

April provided traditional rain for the Spring Run, 23 stalwarts turned out for a soggy ride around North Lincolnshire. Thanks are due to The Stables Farm Shop for the venue and Mike and Penny for running the breakdown service.

The club night at the Bell saw Ken Sprayson provide an enthralling summary of the TT races from start to present day, an “insiders” view, which kept a good sized crowd absorbed for the evening.

Several displays are happening in June, plus the Best Kept Bike Night at the Bell on the 23rd June, so dig out the concours machines and get the polish on!

The March section meet was an entertaining discussion on the manufacture of control cables, led by Phil Meggett, I hope those present found it of interest.

This month sees the Relay rally, our check point is at the Balmforth residence near Caistor. I trust that we shall see plenty of members out over the day.

Followed on the 18th  by the Pre 40’s run, we hope to have some changes on this run for this year so keep in touch..
