    Month Journal Entry
    April 2010

At our February meeting Kim Allen enlightened us to the complexities of running the British Historic Racing, although many members had attended or been involved with vintage racing, the costs and organization required came as a revelation. Thanks to Kim for the talk.

This month sees the start of the riding season for our section, so lets hope for a marked improvement in the weather!

    March 2010

The first meeting of 2010 had an absorbing Table Top Rally as the main attraction, following the cryptic clues kept the assembled group absorbed for at least an hour .

Thanks to David for his efforts with the maps.

As this missive is being written, we are once more treated to snow, hopefully this will all have passed soon, the April run is closer than you realize!

Please note slight alteration in events from your calendar.

    February 2010

The Boxing Day Run assembled as is customary in the Market Place at Market Rasen,  Although the days weather was pleasant, sunny if a little cool, the remnants of the previous weeks snowfall made the going on roads, other than main routes, some what treacherous, so the decision was made to cancel the run and socialize at the Beckett Arms, Corringham.

Around a dozen motorcycles, piloted only by the very brave (or foolish), turned out, with attendees from as far away as Newark. While most of the assembled motorcycles might be described as “practical”, bearing in mind the conditions, a very nice 150cc New Imperial, with, I am led to understand, a works history, stole the show.

February’s club night will be a talk. Speaker is dependant on the weather.

The April Practical evening was based on the motorcycle MOT test, Jim Allen and John Nunn skillfully demonstrating on Nigel Clarke’s Norton the points to of interest. A lively exchange with the assembled multitude gave us several points to consider for future tests.

An extra talk is confirmed for Monday June 15th at The Bell, this is not on your card.

Mr. Jeff Gawley is to talk on his exploits as a sidecar racer.  This is, I believe, the first time Jeff has spoken on this subject and should be extremely informative.

The Best Kept Bike Night is on the 22nd June, at The Bell. The Vincent owners are attending, competition should be fierce!
