A good selection of machines assembled for the start of this year’s run as usual beginning at Wickenby Airfield.

Turning left off the airfield into Holten then towards Wragby before turning via Goltho & Stainfield where if you looked onto the horizon it is possible to see Lincoln Cathedral, arriving in Barney where a refreshment stop was made at the house of a member for some home made cake & drinks. It was here that a one minute silence was held to remember her majesty Queen Elizabeth 2.

Moving onwards the route turned left out of Barney towards Waddingworth before turning to Thimbleby running on some lovely quiet Wolds roads with junctions almost hidden in trees through several more villages before arriving in West Ashby turning into Manor Lane where the midday break was at the side of a lake in the Manor grounds joining a classic car gathering where there was a large assembly of vehicles.

Leaving the Manor grounds travelling through West Ashby the route turned towards Hemingby & Baumber towards Panton. This is the surname of the 2 brothers who started East Kirkby Aviation Centre in memory of a 3rd brother who died in WW2. Passing through a few more quiet villages it wasn’t long before arriving back at Wickenby Airfield where some riders went into the new cafe for some well deserved food as nothing had been available at the midday stop.

Another great day out in North East Lincolnshire & unfortunately the last run for this year.

Thanks Stewart.
